New York Under Water

  New York City relies on an intricate relationship between land and sea to function.  But the balance is being upset by an increase in heavy storms, rising sea level, a rebounding water table and an influx of new residents who are adding strain to the system. 

 

 

Beneath it all, the subway system that is the city’s lifeline is becoming increasingly vulnerable to flooding, experiencing disruptions from rain four times in the last four years.  Above ground there is a fight over the best way to solve the problem.
